Meet Laura, our 2015-2016 President

Welcome President Laura! Laura has previously served on the Rotaract Board as International Chair and Membership Chair. She played a huge role in our success in increasing membership over the past year. Laura is passionate about Rotaract and is a networking whiz. She brings a strong energy and determination to the table, and it will be exciting to see where Rotaract goes in the next year under her direction. Here is a brief profile on Laura.

Name: Laura Kissee

Hometown: Unknown- I identify as a Global Nomad (Note: Laura has lived all over the world, including the Middle East, Kazakhstan, and Africa)

Profession: Business Development Maven

Q: Why did you join Rotaract and how long have you been involved?

LK: I joined Rotaract soon after moving to Milwaukee 4 years ago. When I arrived in the city, I knew no one and wanted to start volunteering on a regular basis. Rotaract has both a local and International focus, which is what really got my attention.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a part of Rotaract?

LK: My favorite thing about being part of Rotaract MKE is that it's an all-in-one kind of club. Not only do I get to meet a ton a different people, who want to serve and grow professionally on a regular basis, but we also have great socials, fantastic speakers and a wide variety of volunteer projects. Never a dull moment! But my ultimate favorite part is that I know I'm doing my part to make this city better.

Q: What are some of your favorite things to do in Milwaukee?

LK: I'm not a huge fan of winter (except for wearing scarves), so most of my faves take place in the summer. I really enjoy playing tennis, perusing the local farmers' markets, and seeing shows at the various arts/entertainment venues around town.

Q: What are you excited about right now?

LK: I'm excited for the upcoming year- we have a FANTASTIC Board ready to take on the challenge of doubling our membership. We've got some great service projects coming up, including a partnership with a Rotaract club in Guatemala. We also have a Mentorship Program to jump start and some partnerships with other YP groups in the area. I'm also excited to see where this year leads us in strengthening our relationship with our sister club, the Rotary Club of Milwaukee. Good things are happening!
